MCP Automation Savings Calculator

How much time does your team spend on a repetitive daily task that an AI agent could do through an MCP connector? Estimate the hours and money you would get back each year, and how quickly the build would pay for itself.

How the calculator works.

The formula
  • Hours freed per year = people × minutes per day ÷ 60 × share removed × working days
  • Annual savings = hours freed × hourly cost
  • Payback period = build cost ÷ weekly savings (annual savings spread over working weeks)
  • 3-year net = annual savings × 3 − build cost
What it leaves out

The calculator only counts time. It ignores faster responses to customers, fewer copy-and-paste errors, and work that never got done because nobody had time, so the real return is often higher. It also ignores AI usage and hosting costs, which are usually small next to staff time but should be in your quote. Not every workflow suits MCP: read when not to use MCP first.

Questions about MCP automation savings.

What is an MCP connector?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets an AI assistant such as Claude use your business systems through defined tools: searching records, creating orders, updating listings. An MCP connector, or server, exposes those tools securely, so people can run a workflow in plain language instead of clicking through several systems.

Which tasks are the best fit for an MCP connector?

Repetitive, multi-system tasks that follow clear rules but need a little judgment: checking several systems to answer a question, preparing orders or offers, updating records across tools, or summarizing an inbox. Tasks with no clear rules, or where every action is high-risk, are a worse fit.

How is the MCP savings estimate calculated?

Hours freed per year are the number of people, times the minutes per day each spends on the task, times the share an MCP connector removes, times working days. Multiply by the loaded hourly cost for annual savings. The payback period is the build cost divided by weekly savings.

Is it safe to let an AI agent change data in our systems?

It can be, with the right guardrails. Our MCP server for a B2B marketplace runs writes in a safe mode that stops before committing, needs an explicit confirmation before any live write, separates viewer, editor, and admin roles, and logs every request.

Is this a quote for an MCP connector?

No. The calculator shows what automating the workflow could be worth to you. The cost of a connector depends on the systems involved, whether they have APIs, and the safeguards you need, so we scope each project first.
